10 ways to stay organized and Productive
I, personally, am often struggling to finish things, get up early, and keep my things neat and organized. Overall, I tend to be a sort of unorganized person and I CANNOT get out of bed in the morning! But, I do have a couple of tips that help me out A LOT, so I thought I would share them!
PUT YOUR ALARM CLOCK ACROSS THE ROOM
This tip has been HUGE for me! Putting your alarm clock across the room forces you to actually get out of bed. Plus, once you're up, Is there really a good reason to get back into bed?
USE A PLANNER, CALENDAR, OR DRY ERASE BOARD
Using some sort of tool to keep your events, assignments, and activities organized helps so much! I know it sounds obvious but it helps way more than you would think! I use a daily planner for my school assignments and blog posts, and a weekly dry erase board calendar to schedule my activities and events.
PUT THINGS BACK WHERE THEY ARE KEPT
I’m not going to lie, I struggle with this one sometimes. I always randomly set things down, then waste valuable time trying to find it later. (It seems like my fingernail clippers are always lost.) But overall, doing this can save a lot of time, and can keep your house or room from getting too cluttered.
SET DAILY GOALS AND TIMES TO COMPLETE THEM
I LOVE scheduling out my day! Do I always follow the schedule exactly? No, of course not. But It helps me feel more motivated to get things done. I also find that switching up your environment can help a lot! For example, if you've been doing lazy, unproductive things in your room all day, when you decide to get productive, try moving outside or to another room.
REUSE THINGS FOR ORGANIZATION
I love reusing things to organize all of the randoms in my drawers. For example, I've reused Tic Tac containers for bobby pins, an empty Altoid container for hair ties, empty cereal boxes for desk organizers, and an empty coffee can for a loose change jar!
CLEAN YOUR ROOM, CLOSET, AND MAKE YOUR BED
If you want to be organized, please, PLEASE, do this! It's an obvious tip but let's be honest, trying to work and get things done is so much easier when you aren't getting distracted by random things on your floor. I also have noticed that making my bed just overall makes me feel more productive and it also makes my room look one thousand times better! Cleaning and organizing my closet is so helpful when trying to find that perfect outfit! Just any physical organization in general always helps with mental organization.
LONG TERM GOALS
Always have some long-term goals set and try to reach them little by little! For example, I am hoping to get to one thousand followers on my Instagram but I am setting short-term goals to get there, such as posting almost everyday and keeping my feed interesting. Another long-term goal of mine is to become an elementary school teacher. I am trying to find any and every opportunity to work with kids to get there.
ORGANIZE YOUR PHONE AND STAY UP TO DATE
When I say organize your phone I don't exactly mean organize your apps into colors (though that does look cool). I'm talking about checking your texts as soon as they come in so they don't accumulate. Checking your email in case there is something important. Delete spam emails and texts so they don’t take up storage. Check instagram Dm’s. Respond to people!
MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR TIME
This one is simple but making the most of your time really keeps you from getting too overwhelmed. Sometimes I find myself on my phone when I should be doing homework. A solution is to simply put it in another room. AND, I don’t just mean stay productive during your at-home free time. Most schools have study halls as a part of a school day. At least my school does. I often see and hear people talking and wasting that time. If you focus, you might actually get some things done, possibly including some homework.
DON’T LEAVE TASKS HALF DONE
If you are cleaning your room and you suddenly realize you need to finish a homework assignment due tomorrow, don't just leave your room half cleaned. Trust me, you will end up forgetting about it or saying to yourself, “I did enough of it, I’ll finish it tomorrow” So, my advice would be quickly finish up your room, don't get distracted, and THEN finish that homework assignment due tomorrow.
So, there are 10 tips that really help me stay as organized and productive as possible. I really hope they help you out!
